Yup, seems like HEAVY gap-down opening today again ! Be careful, let us put on hold any BIG play. Do not execute any transaction with more than just ONE lot. Go long on that lot and book whatever reasonable profit you can ... just hold it if it happens to tank further ! Regards, DU....

Hi baluincorp, tomorrow`s opening is seemingly heading towards gap-down. That`s good. That means Larsen is gonna open below 970 perfect. please go long only on TWO lots ... with FULL realization that you have to HOLD these two in case the market tanks suddenly. If you get 10-25 rupees profit on these two lots, please BOOK it. If you get 50-75 rupees loss, please buy two more lots to down-average, and try exiting with an overall 10-25 rupees profit per lot !

Even if you`re required to hold 4 lots of LARSEN at 950-900 levels at the current levels of our indices, it is not a bad bargain at all ... just hold these lots with conviction on at least medium-term basis, and, then, you keep shorting AGAINST these LONG lots - my simple BIDIRECTIONAL PLAY in futures !

Yopur subsequent mail is a bit confusing and anyhow, I do not have L&T shares in cash segment. So I shall try to follow your previous suggestion. But as soon as I buy 5 lots at opening bell and after that the value comes down, then what is the process ? Though my questions are very fundamental, under this situation only, I am lost of a correct techhnique.

Sir, as I already have 500 Larsen (= 5 lots), so I prefer L&T to rest of the counters, especially while SHORTING :

Buy 5 lots at the opening bell.
Square off 4 for a gain of a mere 10 rupees.
You gross gain will be 10 x 4 x 100 = 4,000.
Sell the 5th one for a gain of about 25-50 rupees, to gain = 2.5-5 K

Once Larsen has gained +50 to +75 over its opening price, you can short 2 lots repeatedly for a gain of a mere 10-20 rupees per lot.

Quite a few boarders may scoff at such small denomination play, but it has proved to be quite lucrative for me in the last 5=7 days.

Of course, you have got to hold your positions with CONVICTION, without any stop loss. For me, shorting is no problem as it remains COVERED, but while going long, I remain fully aware of the fact that I may have to hold on to my 5 LONG lots overnight ! Fortunately, such a hold, if necessary, also down-averages my cash acquistion of 500 shares quite substantially.

For going LONG : November FUTURES
For going SHORT : October FUTURES

These days I`m focussed only on the following counters :

1. LARSEN, addded advantage - my cash shares provide COVER.
2. IDBI, addded advantage - OPTIONS pretty liquid.
3. IFCI, addded advantage - OPTIONS pretty liquid.

Regards, DU

In reply to:

`baluincorp` Sir, please let me explain a bit my penchant for playing LARSEN for my intraday trades !

I`ve 500 cash shares (pre-bonus) which I want to sell off, redeem my original investment (with some loss of course) and covert those to 5 lots of futures at a low price, so that my 500 post-bonus shares PLUS 500 (NOTIONAL) future shares will have a decent weighted average of about 1100 rupees or less.

Thus what I state above about my 500 pre-bonus shares, lets me short 5 lots of October FUTURES in a staggered manner, with CONVICTION, and without any PANIC whatsoever in case the market direction reverses AFTER I have shorted. I proceed as follows :

I short the 1st lot at say 1025, if I get a profit of 25 rupees on this, I book it. However, if I get a loss of 25 rupees, I short the 2nd lot to UP-AVERAGE my shorts. I have never been required to short more than 4 of my five intended lots this way, and invariably end the day scoring a neat profit of at the very least of 25 rupees x 2 lots (on an average) x 100 (lot-size) = 5,000 rupees. This daily profit further reduces my Larsen shares` acquisition by that much amount, and lets me position my shorts much better in subsequent trading sessions !

Of course, the greater the fall (so normal these days), the greater the profits on my shorts ... and whenever I perceive that LARSEN has fallen about 75-100 rupees from the day`s HIGH, I never forget going long on at least 2-3 November lots, scoring another 25 rupees per lots on an average ... so, it is quite routine to strike about 7.5K, whether the day is bearish or relatively range-bound. Yes, I`ve almost forgotten what are bullish days like !

Regards, DU.

I lost money only because I did not follow your entire instructions.
That is mainly, having a balance of money to t ake care of M2M requirement. In that process, I shorted November futures on 7th and on 8th, that shorts have increased in substantial value, but as I have used the balance funds to buy some other shares, I was not able to come out of November shorts and in that process, I squared off everything. But this time, I have determined to keep enough funds for M2M. Anyhow, many thanks for; your detailed explanation. It helps.

I have total faith on your practical suggestions. I had some luck with L&T on the first day I tried this method, but subsequently, I suffered loss. I did not come out of my positions immediately for a loss and allowed the loss to grow. Probably, my timing to enter into this sort of trading was wrong as L&T continuously came down in prices.
Anyhow, I will try this method with L&T once again from tomorrow.
