The rule for the grouping is very simple Radhika

All those who say yes are old timers
All who say no are new timers
All those who keep quiet are timers
Others are just murmurs

also the formula for calculating the percentage who agree

=No.of boarders who oppose*100/Total boarders who have commented

and the formula for calculating the percentage who oppose

=No.of boarders who agree*100/Total regd boarders in MMB

& it is not fair on your part to go anti-establishment after receiving the coveted MODsaysay award!

Oldtimer,

As per law of karma, whatever award is conferred has to be accepted with grace, gratitude and dignity so my apologies to mod. :)...

Hi MOD,

Thanks for replying.

As regular boarders we have benefited a lot by MMB and we want to pay back our debt. This board has really some very intelligent & resourceful men and women boarders. If you pool their ideas and implement you would build a very strong and popular MMB.As an Indian I see tons and tons of indifference, lethargy, arrogance in all walks of life.I want at least MMB to be an exception in being transparent and interactive. When that is not happening I show my irritation.Nothing personal.

Please make use of at least few boarders to design the site. The spec for any product is made by the end users/customers and NOT the producer.Even if you incorporate one idea per month,we can make MMB formidable for many years.

Please break the shell, come and mingle with us freely.A leader should be seen and liked by the team

Regards,

Our reply

My ten commandments(suggestions and requests):

1.Please be corresponding freely with us and exchange ideas. We are also for the growth of MMB.Do not behave like our elected representatives to assembly and parliament and show your face when you make the next alterations in Sep 2010
(MMB Moderator reply: Done from now one you will see us and hear from us everyday)

2.Why to kill our interest and creativity by destroying our home page? I do not think that even one soul is keen to know our CV typed in courier new 9 point size font.
(MMB Moderator reply: the home page was not destroyed only enhanced to aid better navigation)

3.Pl introduce the system of seeing a message and all replies to it under it.otherwise any reply should be mentioning 'in reply to so and so's message dated ***'.
(MMB Moderator reply: Excellent idea... the reason we keep the thread format is because we don't want to disturb or break a conversation link)

The problem with current system is that if a thread is started by A on the Ist of a month and until 30 th B to Y reply to that and finally on 31st Z comes and replies to A 'You are an idiot',it creates doubts in the minds of B to Y that it is for them and worse still A thinks it is not for him
(MMB Moderator reply: The thread is structured in a way that you can see the immediate reply to the message posted.. so a message and all replies to that will be seen together.. in a thread.. it is a universal format on all messageboards)

4.It is also worth codifying all the message with one numeral(denoting year) four alpha system(running serial)viz 8ABCD.This can cover about 4.7 lakhs of messages per calender year
and drawing reference and searching would be easy.
(MMB Moderator reply: Excellent idea will incoporate)

5.Storage our PM sent by us should also be provided
(MMB Moderator reply: that is still available.. its just not called inbox.. you can find it under Messages posted by you)

6.The address book concept is good. But I do not know how to load names of my choice in to them.Pl.explain
(MMB Moderator reply: This will be explained in detail in another message)

7.How about provision for some colorful icons expressing feelings?
(MMB Moderator reply: Excellent idea will incoporate)

8.Since your policy to allow more than one ID to all, guest ID etc remain in tact, why cant you introduce a system of adding a mask icon to any guest ID who is also a regd boarder?
((MMB Moderator reply: hahaaa nice one technically wonder if its possible)

Also no guest ID should be allowed to criticize any regd boarder.
(MMB Moderator reply: definately will make sure that doesn't happen)

9.I think changing the rating system to more explicit one word comments would add colors:

The following seven to begin with:

Excellent
I agree
Humorous
Obscene
Nonsense
Objectionable
Irrelevant

(MMB Moderator reply: we will stick to five or else we will mess up earlier ratings... but nice idea thanks)

10.Pl.also delete the ids of those who do not post for more than three months in succession. It would at least clean the house and free some good nicks available to others. (MMB Moderator reply: ahhaaa can't do that... our boarders take long breaks and we try and coax them back)

Moderator,

The top brains of MMB quit becoz of two reasons, one becoz the format was changed. It began with bandicoots in the form of guests. Boarders like Sainik, Solomon, saggitarian quit because guests and vandals started harrasing these top boarders. Chest50arms20 quit because many religious extremists on this board began harassing him. They dint know how to enjoy his fine literary skills.. Has god ever shown himself to anyone of us... then why did these extremists irritate him??. I admit i also had my tiff with sainik and chest50arms20 but i doubt if they quit on account of that. The moderator back then took a vicarious pleasure in publishing all those hideous messages from guests to top boarders. This continued for sometime until quite recently a guest posted a hideous message to Udayan and ever since MMB has been cautious about allowing guest messages to filter through. When it happened to the top boarders here the moderator back then ignored it so in one sense Udayan was the saving grace but to think that the sentiments of boarders here is less imporant to Udayan kind of hurts you know. I admit though that you are the vishnu avtar of MMB... thanks a lot for being pereceptive and receptive. Are you new?...

Hi boarders,

We have had 3 looks over the years.. 2004 MMB when we first began..
2007 MMB when we evolved a bit and you still loved us..
then the mid-2008 MMB with a web 2.0 look..

We are taking a poll on the old v/s new....We want an actual show of messages in support of or against the new MMB...

Tell us which MMB you loved the most and which feature and why.. also what you hate or like about the current MMB...

We will keep this poll on for a week and will wait for all contributions.. please make sure all of you participate .. everybody's opinion matters...

Moderator,

I chat a lot on MMB and my messages are most often irrelevant or impertinent to stockmarkets. I suggest you separate the serious boards from the chat boards like the 2004 format. If you type WAYBACK MACHINE in google you will be taken to site which allows u to see archived files and there in if u type moneycontroldotcom you will be taken to archives from 2002.. click on couple of links dating back to 2004 to see the format.

Also shoot a post to saggitarian, Solomon, sainik, chest50arms20 to return to the board at once. They were the brains of MMB... they have gone missing for a long time..Could you kindly welcome them back?

I loved the interface of the 2004.

I loved the general feel and look of 2004.

I loved the colors of 2004.

I feel MMB has to provide all three formats and see which format gets used most. Just like on the internet, sites allow us to change skin colors for certain music softwares, why dont u allow us to change the colors or formats?

The inbox and outbox as well as Private message features of 2007 format were excellent.

The front page of the 2004 MMB message board was good with sign in and portfolio on the top right corner, the popular and prolific boarders on the left, the most used boards on the right and a central column of messages with serious boards on top half and casual boards like ODD ONE OUT etc in the bottom half of the cental column. Do restore the front page to this 2004 format, restore the colors to the 2004 format, restore the original message and replies to the 2005 format, RETAIN the boarder page as per the 2007 with inbox and outbox and private message as well as creative space with HTML tags.

THANK YOU....

The new format of Moneycontrol is okay but it is HIGHLY IRRITATING in MessageBoard. Especially the "LATEST MESSAGES" tab:

You can see the same thread multiple times. If A starts a thread, and B replies to it, and C replies to B, then this thread will be shown three times.

A's original post and B's reply can be seen twice in the same page.

In the older Msg board, there was a "SORT By Thread" facility where you could see the thread in a collapsed form. This was a good feature.

And obviously, the MMB developers have not heard of Firefox. The UI goes haywire in Firefox.

Dear Moderator,

How nice it would have been if you asked for the suggestion before the changeover, then few would have been objecting. Having not listened to the suggestions/complaints of Senior Boarders.....results are there for all to see.....Good Boarders like Kfactor, Morningstar, Kotakinvestment, Joetom, 666, etc have been chased away from the Board. Many regular addicts of MMB are not even traceable. Most of them have their own Blogs now where hardly any disturbance from undesirables. Results.....where the weekly hits for most popular boarders were about 500 has now come down below 200. It is still falling and Moneycontrol Messageboard will die natural death unless few good boarders come up to try their fate on MMB.

Dear Moderator,

First of all thanks for providing us a platform to interact with many persons and share our views.

Your (MMB) New Avatar:

Proves the famous quote of Henry Ford,
'My customers can have any color of their choice for the car they buy as long as it is black'

It also proves that you would not want any boarder or boarders to rise above MMB at any point of time. You have drawn the lines and we have to follow the same.

My ten commandments(suggestions and requests):

1.Please be corresponding freely with us and exchange ideas. We are also for the growth of MMB.Do not behave like our elected representatives to assembly and parliament and show your face when you make the next alterations in Sep 2010

Dear swamy,

The change has been made and the mgt.would not revert, going by our previous experience.I also feel that the heading, date etc for the thread is shown with very large font while the message\`s font size is too small. We also can not find out which stock is being referred to from the heading unless we open the message. This was not needed in the previous format.I feel they could have consulted a few boarders before making these changes.

Good Luck
