Dear zaplin, am happy you made money in IDFC... I never buy a stock on tips... I try to understand a company first,its balance sheet/busines module/ prospects/ products/owners/progress/current market environment/EPS/PE etc... Then I see the future prospects of the products in the current scenario and then recommend a stock to investors... Like I will never recommend telecom shipping/cement/textiles stocks etc in the current market environment.... There are many other factors that determine the stocks rise....positive / negative news which will benefit a company in the short/long term/ debt ratio and so forth... As far as yours selling a stock at a loss..it depends on the stock and its time horizon to hold or to sell... Till date I have never sold a stock at a loss except one stock that is Pyramd Saimira recently when I was surprised to know that the promotors cornered shares in the IPO... My advise to you is to invest in companies which are debt free and have a progressive growth prospect in their products whether domestic or exports... I can wait 6 months to one year for my stocks to recover... A...

I made some money today by trading IDFC. thanks to your timely info.

Today I had sold 1200 shares of FCS software (in loss) which I was holding from last almost two months because it was not moving at all. But immediately after that , within half an hour,it increased by 10% and I felt very bad and this happens with me most of the time. Could you please advise me when is the right time to sell a stock? what should be the thought process, If selling in profit/loss how much is fine. Pl Enlighten me on this.

I missed it because i did not have enough money but on thursday I had bought 1200 shares @ 23.10 per share. today I have sold NMDC with a little profit so tomorrow i will buy . Is Spicejet still a buy? what is the next target of Spicejet or would you like to recommend any other stock for tomorrow.
