NTPC is looking to aquire coal blocks in Indonesia, Mozambique and South Africa to bridge the fuel supply shortfall from domestic sources. NTPC is looking at coal mines abroad that can give upto 20 million tonnes of coal per annum and that is around 20% of its requirement. At present it is importing 2 million tonnes of coal.
