Siemens AG, Europe`s largest engineering conglomerate, is planning to set up a manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh, reports Business Line.

The global major, which is into automation and control, power, transportation and healthcare sectors, has already explained its intent to the state government.
The unit will have the capacity to manufacture 150 MW steam turbines and also 20 MW to 500 MW generators.

The plant is expected to come up in three phases with a total investment of Rs 9,500 million and have a potential to employ around 2,000 people once the unit is fully commissioned.
The company, currently, has 17 manufacturing plants, an extensive network of sales and service offices and more than 500 distribution partners across the country.
