Net drops 51.85% in Dec`08 qtr
Prism Cement announced a substantial drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 51.85% to Rs 310.30 million from Rs 644.50 million in the same quarter previous year.
The company reported earnings of Rs 1.04 a share during the quarter, registering 51.85% decline over prior year period.

Sales were almost on the same level as in the corresponding quarter last year, however the realization of profits have reduced by half, due to the pressure on margins and price reduction due to demand slow down.
However, the market seems to have already discounted the earnings by forecast, looking at the current price, we can look forwrd to a price band of Rs 18/- to 25/- before the next good news, if any....

Sharmila Joshi, VP of Systematix Shares & Stocks is of the view that one can sell Prism Cement at this point of time. It is a north based company and there is a lot of the capacity addition is coming in the north, which is why the dispatches for the company as well fall off.

Prism Cement performance in Q1 was just ok, but pathetic results in Q2. If the same Q2 trend to continue in Q3, then price plummet. Q3 turnaround is expected as per the present price movements, then it crosses 25.

Do you have any info about Q3 results? Current fiscal year till Sept`08 worst performer among cement companies.... Rs 38.50 price is too high expectation in the present scenario

I am having 700 shares at 38.5. Is this rally help me to get that price to come out again ? or this package will help the cement industry to go up, because I am also having Gujarat Siddhie cement 1100 @ 17 when the rumour of anil ambani looking about the company i entered but not come out of it is this rally help in this also kindly advise me shall I go for average this stock ?
