One more negative news on Satyam that some of its associates have been stealing data from World bank servers during the course of maintenance. Im not sure how much of this is true, but it may take this stock to the levels and much lower that what you mentioned....

Everything going bad in satyam at the moment.... many of theiramerican clients are in problem.... severe job cuts in the company sending poor signals to markets.... top executives selling the scrip is giving additional pressure on the counter....

Unless otherwise, the management shows some interest in the share price, there is little chance for investors to get profits in the counter....

Analysts expecting present weakness may be continued for some more time and projecting the down target to 170 levels in coming sessions....

Despite the downfall of a few of its major US clients, Satyam continues to brave the storm with full vigour. Despite the assertions of Mr. Raju, market is not responding to the good news. Are their any reasons other than overall negative sentiment globally for the steep downwards slide of the share price of Satyam computer? If the order book from USA is impacted adversely due the to the subprime crisis, why should the company be betting on the aquisitions of the US companies available at lower cost, if its client base is diluted. Have the investors over-reacted on the bad news from USA?

Would Satyam really buy back it`s own shares ? or would they rather buy some other company...Here is an interesting news report:

4th Oct 2008 - NEW DELHI: Loaded with huge amount of cash, Satyam Computers said it has accelerated the hunt for prospective companies that it could acquire globally even if the cost runs into billions of dollars.

Sensing opportunities arising out of the financial crisis triggered by fall of major banks and mortgage giants in the US, Satyam`s founder and Chairman B Ramalinga Raju told PTI in an interview that it is possible to raise 4-5 billion dollars as war-chest for acquisitions that strategically fit India`s fourth largest IT entity.

Raju said the company had a billion-dollar cash surplus and funds were not any issue when any potential acquisition opportunities came around. "The acquisition could be even in billions of dollars".

Asked if its next bid could be a billion-dollar deal as it could easily muster around Rs 15,000-20,000 crore by leveraging its Rs 4,000-crore cash pile, Raju said, "That is a possibility".

On whether it has asked its advisors and bankers to hunt for potential targets given cheaper acquisition opportunities in the backdrop of falling market valuations across the world markets, he said, "We have accelerated the process... the valuations have become more attractive than what they used to be".

Loaded with reserves and surplus of over Rs 7,000 crore at the end of last fiscal, the company`s guidance (target) is to reach about Rs 11,000 crore (2.6-2.7 billion dollar) of revenue in the current fiscal. It had recently acquired an entity for 280 million dollars.

Satyam`s revenue grew to 2.14 billion dollars in the latest fiscal FY08, up from 1.46 billion dollars in FY07.

Well, buyback may not be ruled out as mentioned by Ramalinga Raju last week, however the annoucement may not come during the results. As they are sitting on a lot of cash, they are scouting for acquisitions, they might come up with the news in the coming quarters.

With the success of EMRI, satyam may also venture into healthcare business by setting up hospitals, we can get to hear from them in this regard in the coming few months. ...

This is a Company with huge reserves and surplus of over 2 billion dollars. why can`t the pump some money in the market and buy back and keep their flag high. They can shine elsewhere only if they shine in their stocks. This goes for all other companies holding huge reserves and surpluses and that too idling.

Let them buy some US Coporations and this is the right time they can do it for a good song.
