Tulip Telecom Limited, the leading enterprise communications service provider, today announced its financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008, reporting a net profit of Rs. 45.96 crore against Rs.28.54 crore in corresponding quarter for the previous fiscal, registering an increase of 61%.
The company's net sales for the quarter stood at Rs. 334.61 crore against Rs. 214.53 crore for the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal. The company posted a basic EPS of Rs 15.85 up 61% over the previous fiscal.
The company’s leadership position and strong growth in the MPLS/IP VPN business has led to a strong EBITDA margin of 20.19% and a stronger net profit margin of 13.74%. Traditionally, the first quarter contributes between 16% and 18% of the company’s annual revenues.
The growth showcases the positive impact of the initiatives undertaken by the company over the past financial year. Some of the key highlights for the first quarter ended June 30, 2008 include:
§ The company signed on new customers during the quarter, which include Bombay Stock Exchange, Max New York Life, IDBI –Fortis and Future Generali Insurance among others.
§ A strong leadership team has been setup across various business functions to drive the company through its next phase of growth.
§ Tulip Telecom Limited received the ISO 27001 certification for its data center and Network Operation Center – a reinforcement of the company’s commitment to provide secure and reliable services to its customers.
§ Tulip has commenced the rollout of Intra-city fibre and the rural network, and has seen tremendous traction for these upcoming businesses.
Lt. Col. H S Bedi, Chairman and Managing Director, Tulip Telecom said, “Tulip had an excellent quarter. We continue to grow our business with our customers by enhancing our service delivery processes and product offerings. There is a strong demand for our services, as clients look to Tulip to add value to their businesses. We remain optimistic for the rest of the year as we are looking at enhancing our reach and introducing more service offerings.”
Tulip has been able to successfully grow its more profitable businesses in the overall share of its revenue, thus increasing overall profitability. The company’s near 1000 customer base in India includes most large BFSI organizations, telecom operators and corporates.
As of 30 June 2008, Tulip had 2,321 employees in India, an increase from 2,100 at the end of 31 March 2008.
