Souravda,

Your dreams will bear fruit for sure. You might have to wait a tad longer.

To me the Consulting industry is a barometer of things to come. I see cuts happening across the board.

Next to get hit will be perm jobs.

These temporary measures to me are like sand bags placed around the houses during floods. They are at best an attempt to ward off the water. Water passes through and causes hell of a lot of damage. Hope we are spared of more pain. But ignoring the reality of what we are facing is just not on.

Dear Ramji,
We`re 50% down and you call this the tip of the iceberg? When I was in school, we had a lesson on the titanic and I learnt that an iceberg is 11 times bigger inside the water than what it is outside.... and if the tip is 11K... then the fall will be till 1K.. ?? Not possible... :D:D:D just kidding... had a tough day at work... rumours are that even CS will be impacted... funding for IT spending is going down for the next year... impact will be seen in BFSI segment.. which had till now reported 55% growth.

I guess 2011 is a bit toooo pessimistic view... I expect things to clear by one year... next year same time the froth should have washed out of the system... that might not be the end but we would have passed the mid point... and things would only get better going forward...

Over the last couple of weeks I`ve starting making FDs... the interest rates are at 10% for an year..

My friends who saw me as a hard core investor are surprised that I`ve taken the conservative approach... but what I realized is that when the ill wind blows, you need to put your head down and let it pass... these are kfactor`s words..

Prepare to hibernate?? What will happen to my dreams?
regards,
Sourav

Souravda,

Tip of the Iceberg friend. Bush, Brown all of them are worried about the next elections. I am afraid they might end up unleashing more long term mayhem.

First encourage plastic wealth that is not sustainable for decade and then bring in measures to correct the negative effects. Do two wrongs make a right??????Think about it and prepare to hibernate.

0815,

Thank you Ramgebhai,

You might have noticed that my wit is intact but irritation has got added.I am expressing this explicitly at times to drive it out of my system lest it would drive away the wit.

At the same time we should also agree that TD is such a scrip which would convert Buddha to Bin Laden

Dear Ramge,

Don`t worry... our GOI has multiple avenues of sharing the taxpayer`s money... the kitty would be more than empty if they are left without a noose...

Like you said in one of the emails,.. its every man for himself... see what happened to Iceland... none of the European countries came to bail the country out... at the end.. its you for you and me for me... :-))

GBhai,

I told Souravda that we wont see a bull run till 2011. I expect more pain to happen. These measure fall way short of the real problem. All the politicians are interested in is to eye wash their votebanks.

This is what you are seeing worldwide. I am praying a natural calamity does not happen at this crucial juncture as it can open a pandora`s box and send us spiralling into deep recession.

All around here I see deep Job cuts and losses happening. Did you read the story of that Indian Finance Pro who killed all his family in California. Expect more pain. Its early days.

WoWji,

For the next round the investors will take profits and would benefit from the lessons learnt now. Thats how the greats became greats not by reading MMB or by following the sharmas and varmas. Its by trial and error and sheer weight of the experiences behind them.

Now why should the Govt`s step in to protect individuals or companies for that matter? Govt is the custodian of the taxpayer not an NGO waiting to donate for the follies of individuals and corporates and make the hardworking taxpayer pay for the follies and misadventures of a few.

But this is what Dubya is doing and indirectly making the rest of the world pay for their mistakes. Caveat Emptor is something all should follow.

In the Indian markets I have quoted examples in the past of stocks that were taken down to .50Rs and zooming up in 4 months past 500Rs. So when you decide to enter the water you should have the stamina to swim against all odds, the sharks, the tides, the storm if you have to reach the other side.

While I empathize with the predicament of the small investor, I realize the facilities and information they have today is much much more than in the 80`s and 90`s. So if you are honest you can learn from this.

I feel really sad to see my friends so depressed. This is no child`s play. If a has 10L loss b also has 20L loss.(Its not a loss until you decide to bail out). People that took profits and parked profits are well insulated. Loss of Profits and mistakes to learn from is another thing altogether. Its not anyone`s fault. Market forces at play. Holding power and mental strength are the need of the hour. WHAT GOES UP WILL COME DOWN AND VICE-VERSA.

I wish everyone had your WOW Factor. If the Index is at 22000, If the Index is at 18000, If the Index is at 10500 its on the increase (ROFL)
cheers

Dear Radhika.. Please!!!

Please keep the govt out of this... they already have policies to curb the growth of a nation...

Engineering seats are being taken by not so worthy students just because they belong to a certain section of the society...

There is no uniform civil law in the country... again thanks to the GOI.

Defaulting farmers get the exemption because the GOI plans to share OUR tax money... while the ones who make payments on time get nothing.

One state cries because Nano said tata, but they do nothing to utilize their intellectual wisdom to enhance the opportunity in their states... This time its not the GOI but the state govt.

Most of all... we have reservations in Medical as well... can you beat it?

Atleast the stock market is an even playing ground for all... FIIs included. Let it be so... we do not want reservations or intervensions from the GOI here...

Regards,
Sourav...

PS: I hope you take the message as it is and take no personal offence... its not directed to you. :-))...

RAMGE,

Even sbalu is frustrated... his latest message says MARKET HAS FOOLED EVERYONE... did u read it... its really sad to see longterm investors feeling so dejected. The govt should do something isnt there a plan at all to protect investor`s wealth in stockmarkets.. i am sure we can come up with something...

At least whenever a stock goes up more than its growth rate the minstry should send out a warning to innocent investors. And if a company has gone under or not listed or has altogether vanished then the govt has a bigger responsibility.

If even 50% of losses have been becoz of vanishing companies then the janata should revolt

The investor mutiny of 2008.. lol lol

They should take the govt to task and get to behave responsible at least as far as vanishing companies go and where companies have not listed for more than a year of erasing face value like TELEDATA

Respected Lord,

I think there is a communication gap between YOU and me.

What I prayed last October was

`Please take Teledata to blue chips level, within a year`

and

NOT

`Please take all blue chips to Teledata level, within a year`

Kindly correct your records asap

Thanks and Pranams,
