Do u know BHEL is not a company based in Australia? We are talking of an Indian behemoth takes small steps but heavy on impact. BTW, values are not based on B/s but on expectation of future earnings.

That India's civilian nuclear deal with the U.S. is facing obstacles at the Nuclear Suppliers' Group does not seem to be a deterrent for companies wishing to grab the opportunities the deal, once in full force, will throw up. The Nuclear Suppliers Group's nod is vital for operationalising the Indo-U.S deal.

State-owned firms Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and Ranchi-based Heavy Engineering Corp. Ltd. plan to join hands to manufacture forging equipment for nuclear power plants. The two companies are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on Sep 6 for the purpose. The tie-up with the Jharkhand-based HEC is part of their plans to forge two joint ventures as per the BHEL official. Heavy Engineering Corp. is engaged in the manufacture and supply of castings and forging equipment, capital equipment, machine tools and spares needed for core sector industries.

In another development, Bharat Forge Ltd. has decided to pull out of talks with BHEL for making forging equipment. Bharat Forge has already signed a memorandum of understanding with NTPC Ltd., signed on Feb 8, for making castings, forgings, fittings and high pressure piping required for power and other industries, etc.

BHEL, which manufactures forging equipment at its Haridwar plant in Uttarakhand, plans to set up a similar plant in Gujarat. It is not clear which of BHEL's two proposed joint ventures will run the Gujarat plant, as and when it materialises. The company had also floated a global tender, seeking a joint venture partner for making forging equipment. Among other companies eyeing a share in the nuclear energy sector pie are Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Tata Power, Thermax Ltd.

BHEL moving ahead in Tajikistan

Posted by : 9975797577

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd and National Hydro Power Corp Ltd have started modernisation of Varzob-I hydropower station in Tajikistan. Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora and Tajikistan's Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Mukhidinov Pulot Mukhidinovich launched the modernisation project. The modernisation will expand the plant's capacity to 9.4MW from current 7.34MW and will extend the plants operating life by another 50 years, an official release said.

Varzob-I hydropower plant supplies electricity and drinking water to Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe. The modernisation project was part an agreement last year between Tajikistan and Indian governments, under which India has provided a grant of $17 mln.
