I give you reference of Ashish Chugh who recommended it. He said that Three variables: oil prices, production, exchange rate will decide the profitability.
As the oil prices have come down, it can be presumed that Selan`s margins will be hit. If oil prices remain same and rupee improves, margins will be hit more.
But Selan can increase its production and maintain profitability. But it would take some time. But I repeat that Selan will give good returns. Temporarily it may come down due to overall weak sentiments. Its problems have accentuated due to the scrip getting in to Z category. So the leverage has gone for want of participation and liquidity. At present it seems everyone wants to be liquid rather than keep invested.

Its future is extremely bright. But as the management has said that their realisations are correlated to Crude price in $ terms,the margins will be hit.

Thanks jugs. I reciprocate your wishes. Selan is such a good scrip, that it should have touched Rs. 360 this month. But when a typhoon comes it engulfs everything along with it. I am sure that Selan will give us good returns next year.
If crude falls to $ 40 level, it is a sure sign of global recession or even depression. Crude at about $ 85 suggests that the global economy is on track. This is also good for Selan. ...

Dear hembhat
First a very happy diwali to you and to all the other boarders.Crude is going down ..it may even fall to 45-50 $ levels but from thereon it will rise again and settle near to 100$.The days of cheap oil are behind us. Its a scarce commodity and people have to realise that.. Selan should do very well in the long run...the thing is do we have the patience.
Have a look at alphageo too...it should also do very well.

the high or low prices of crude oil will not have any impact on selan since it does not own the oil it produces.its an oil exploration company doing it for other companies i.e. just exploration. Its future is extremely bright.

1. It has done exceedingly well in last 2 quarters.
2. The high crude price & depreciating Rupee helped its margin grow phenominally.
3. With Crude down to $ 68, its future earnings will be hit severely & Q-3 EPS may come down by 40%. So we can presume to be at Rs. 9.
