PNB Management boasts that it has computerised and inter-linked all branches in the country (under CBS). Do you know at what cost to the customers? Earlier (till the first fortnight of Nov.2008), a customer in a CBS branch within a city, can deposit or withdraw CASH, in any branch within the city Free of Charge. However, from the second fortnight of Nov.2008, PNB Management has, without any notice to the public/customers, started charging Rs.20/- for deposit/withdrawal of cash in a branch other than where the account was opened, and for deposit/widhrawal of cash beyond Rs.50,000/- charges are on percentage basis. NOT ONLY this, even if a customer having a Saving a/c. in Sansad Marg, Delhi deposits a cheque in his a/c. in any other branch other than Sansad Marg, then also he will be charged a minimum of Rs.20/-! PNB appears to the scratching the bottom to boost its decreasing profitability, otherwise it will not charge for even depositing a cheque in clearing! Even ICICI Bank is not charging SO FAR on this service! ...

The Bombay Municipal Corporation would do a better service in case they expedite the process of issuing Death Certificate NOT ONLY to the families of the terror attack victims but also who die otherwise. The present wait for issuance of death certificate is, what I come to know, is one week atleast. SECONDLY, let all of us in India call for free burial/cremation OR at a very nominal fee with the rider that those families who want to pay full fee may do so at their will. For instance, in Chennai city, suppose the prescribed fee is Rs.200/- per cremation, the family of the deceased are forced to shell out nearly double the amount and the same is repeated for Death Certificate! ...
