Peri,
Seekign oneneess is essentially an adwaitha philosphy propounded by Shankaracharya where they say you merge with the supersoul or brahman.
The sect i am born into dimisses Adwaitha totally and in fact believe that only if god is different from us we know what is god
I am however not sure which one to believe, but seekign something within me is difficult for me though many sages in the Himalayas believe that state of oneness is bliss and is the highest knowledge. Its unfair for me to dimisss it. But for me it has always been a personal god. So vivekananda's quote
*seeking diversity is sin.*
Comes across as a shock to the personal god seekers. Most singers purandardasa, thyagaraja all speak of a personal god in their songs. A god they can describe in detiail which they seem to have seen in their visions or infact even have met them though those apparitions are not for us to prove.
Regarding rites and rituals, i wouldnt dimiss them completely. There is one book just released by the title EMPOWER which you and bhavani might find interesting.. author Ajay Poddar. The book deals with age old rituals with a touch of science. I will quote the review on the books Board.. seems very interesting.. i should get a copy soon.
