I have great respect for your astute views on particular stocks and on the general economy and track your views on various message boards. By 'imperfections' I was only referring to the coarseness in language which creep in when we all write in a hurry, something which I have never found in your posts before or after.
Please continue your good work as we all benefit from the wisdom and understanding that Almighty has bestowed upon you.
With warm wishes,
kiran

Since I posted my mail on 13th Aug. you can see the loss for TATA TEA quotes. It is nothing for a trader or investor (long term) for I hold these shares for more than 40 years.
Since globalisation, we are not able to isolate one bank collapse at a corner of the world from the impact it has on our Indian Banks. The words used or idiom, may be differeent. Some call it as 'sub-prime' crisis while we call it as 'subsidies' or 'marked to market' operations or 'collateral'. While SBI and ICICI have given some figures, others keep the market guessing. But the damage is seen for their CMPs. Any damage done to the financial instituitions will have far reaching effects now a days.
The recent stuggle of RComm to arrange for funds in US and USA and the struggles that some companies had in the recent one year for M&A ,need not be over stated here.
So the cascading effect of banking industries throughout the world is giving us concern. That is causing inflation, while meeting the bills of oil companies every where. No country is excluded.
I posted my mail on 13th Aug. as we in USA got some signals over the exchange transactions for a week due, to two days intermittant bank employees strike coupled with three holidays. Those few Indian companies that depend upon many banks for BPO services are now trimming their staff as well as recruitment. Their CMPs have lost nearly 40% of value.
Hence I posted a mail to our investors to take catious approach while dealing with shares as the banking operations will be affected. From my position here, I could not say more on the matter. If the signals are properly picked, it saves their money. If not, they make a venture and we can only pray that our messages should become incorrect as "weather forcast".
If you mention what you mean in your words "written in a hurry and therefore suffers from imperfections" I shall try to reply, if my position permits.
with regards,

I think Mr. Krishnamurthy wants to convey that since Tata Tea has very large investments in the US, where there are foreclosures and great financial upheavals, it suffers from country specific risks. Probably this well intentioned warning to fellow investors had been written in a hurry and therefore suffers from imperfections.
I have great regard for Mr. Krishnamurthy who has been contributing very sensibly to various message boards. I am sure he would be more careful while sharing his thoughts to us henceforth as we see that he has a great future as a dependable stock analyst with a penchant for sharing his views on stocks with his fellow boarders.

I posted the mail on 13th.Aug.well in time to 14th Aug. trading, as I am residing at USA. The loss registered by Tatatea on 14th is nothing but a rupee. There was no change in the situations affecting indian markets. On 18th opening it has lost Rs.15.00. If we are sipping Tea or buttermilk, my signals may be useless.
I am holding Tata Tea since "TATA FINLEY' shares were issued.I just share my views. Calculus or my calculations are likely to go wrong and get corrected by the reality. But warning signals, if heeded will save the purse. The point is who cares for the warning to be alert. For risk appetite investors all days are good days and I wish so while posting my mails.
With regards,
V.Krishnamoorthy...

As far asI can gauge, your msg is irrelevant to Tata Tea, unless you were implying that instaed of going out people will sit at home & consume tea, thus benefitting Tata tea.

Tata Tea has large interest created recently in USA. If the banks are on the verge of closure, ...... think about the consequences.
On 20th aug. there is an all india call for bank strike. How much is affecting the people in metros.
I posted the message to our friends attention to have cautious trading.
That is all.

U.S. STOCKS - Market slips on worries about credit losses
NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks fell on Tuesday, led lower by financial shares,
which tumbled as worries about further losses stemming from the mortgage crisis
moved back into the spotlight.
News that JPMorgan Chase has racked up $1.5 billion of losses so far this quarter
on mortgage-linked assets sent the bank's stock down more than 8 percent
and reflected deepening turmoil in credit markets.
Goldman Sachs' shares also weighed on the financial sector after a number of analysts,
including Oppenheimer & Co's Meredith Whitney and Deutsche Bank's Michael Mayo,
cut their earnings estimates for the investment bank. The KBW index of bank shares
fell 5.4 percent.
Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Richard Fisher added to negative sentiment
when he said the U.S. economy was in for prolonged slow growth and could shrink later this year.
we should take a cue from their worries for wednesday trading.

As per yr example, the price increases from 300 to 600 which is 100%. Applying the same formula, if there was no bonus, then the original price of 700 would have increased to 1400. Which means for 100 shares the value is 140,000 which is 20,000 more than 120,000. Is there something missing in your explanation ?...

Bonus increases net worth in the long run
For eg you bought 100 Tata tea @ 700 = Rs.70000
it issues Bonus and price falls to 350 & further to 300
You now have 200 shares & you hold on... after 1 year the price again rises to say 600 ---- your holding rises to 600 X 200 = 120000
instead of just moving in the price range from 700 to 900 .... bonus will increase wealth in the medium to long run ( Like L&T etc which give bonus regularly)

What use is a bonus, the price will accordingly to reflect the true value.
Bonus is just a book entry & adds nil to the companies actual worth.
In fact beware of companies which issue bonuses for no apparent reason.

TATA TEA may or may not be isseing the BONUS SHARES, but one thing is beyond any doubt, that the scrip is being accumulated by very very STRONG hands.
The fundamentals are also very very healthy.
There is also a very strong posssibility of this company very shortly coming out with a news of A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL AQUISITION...
