The stock market is in shambles. Broking companies are bound to suffer. Though Edelweiss has a diverse portfolio, all activities are connected with the health of the market. The slowdown is bound to affect them. But what is more worrying is the churn they are witnessing. They have had 4 changes in Compliance Officer since going public! Not a pretty sight, when you know that the Compliance Officer is the internal watchdog. Some answering to do, eh?...

Edelweiss Capital Limited has informed the Exchange that "The shareholders of the Company by way of a Postal Ballot approved a Special Resolution authorizing the Board/ Committee for making inter corporation loans, giving guarantees and/or making invetments in excess of the limit prescribed under Section 372A of the Companies Act, 1956. The resolution has been passed with requisite majority of 97.85% (i.e, as a percentage of taltal valid votes cast) as per the Report dated July 23, 2008 of Mr. Prakash K Pandya, Practising Company Secretary, being the Scrutinizer appointed for the purpose. The result of the postal Ballot was declared today at the Registered Office of the Company. The same is also being displayed on the Companys website."...
