nirmal,
Someone said `May you live in interesting times`. If you think about it, it is one of the worst form of curses. Yes, we are living in interesting times. Although we are better of materially, we are much worse off psychologically.
Hopefully, we pass this time pretty quickly, until then, hold tight on to your cash and tangible assets. If you have too much cash and are itching to invest, then adding to your positions in Tata Tea may be a good idea. Also consider its majority owned Tata Coffee (can you believe it has Rs 100/share in timber alone, apart from thousands of acres of coffee plantations, and Eight O Clock coffee in USA). There are several others which offer very good value, but wait!
Good Luck.

Tata Tea set to launch energy drinks
Posted by :

BANGALORE: Tata Tea is gearing up to make an entry into the energy drinks segment identifying fortified beverages as a growth area. The country`s
largest tea company (by volume) is expected to soft launch its own brand in Chennai early next year, according to sources.
In the past few months, Tata Tea, which re-launched mineral water brand Himalayan recently, has expressed its intention of expanding its health and wellness portfolio in a big way. An energy drink contains products such as caffeine and herbs to give a temporary burst of energy.
When contacted, Tata Tea said they could not comment on speculation. According to sources, however, this is likely to be a youth-focused, lifestyle drink.
Although energy drinks made an entry into the country a few years back, the market is still limited to a few players, Red Bull and Power Horse. Pepsi Co has also announced the launch of its energy supplement, SoBe recently.
While the market size is difficult to ascertain, due to its nascent stage, some estimates place the figure at about Rs 500 crore.
At present, the segment is limited to metros but growing much faster than carbonated beverages.
"The mushrooming of gyms across the country is representative of changing lifestyles. It is probable that this health-conscious urban youth will opt for the product. Those who are foraying into this segment are not competing with each other, at the moment, but are actually creating a market for energy drinks," executive director of KPMG advisory services, Narayanan Ramaswamy said. The south has traditionally been a preferred launchpad for non-aerated beverages for most drinks companies as it is a bigger market for such drinks. Carbonated beverages on the other hand are known to do better in the northern states.
Instead of storming the market, Tata Tea will begin with on-ground activations and radio spends ramping up its presence progressively. They will later ramp up the marketing campaign through the mainstream mediums.
"Only companies with deep pockets will have the capacity to invest in advertising and positioning of such a niche product. During such an economic scenario if companies are able to spend significantly to push the product, it reflects well on the financial position of Indian companies," Mr Ramaswamy added.

Honorable fellow boarders, M/s. c.ravivarman and chriskb are spot on. They belong to a rare breed of fundamental analysts who recognize value and rightly explains it.
Guests in every message board try to play fowl. Their nefarious underhand business is to malign admirable business by raising baseless aspersions, with a desire to drive down the stock price through scandal and lies. Perhaps they wish to enter the stock at lower levels. Only gullible boarders fall for their tricks.
AS regards Tata Tea the topline is not growing much. The company is not sitting idle. It tries to correct this anomaly through inorganic but logical acquisitions from time to time. They have been successful too. They have plenty of cash in the books and as rightly pointed out by worthy boarders, open to further acquisitions. Tata Tea is in the business of building and owning some well branded FMCG assets. It will pay off handsomely. ...

I had visited Bangalore, Madurai, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari,Tirupati, Tanjavur, Hyderabd etc. but I had never gone to Kerala. Now I do not think I will be able to visit Kerala. However, I had visited Darjeeling and Assam Tea gardens. I hd been to Baroda, Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai in 1963. In 1963 Surat was a very small city. Thanks.

We need to also see what is company sales value and do not bother if they sell in x area or y area.
If you want to know what this comany is capable of doing Pl pay a visit to MUNNAR and just enjoy Green Tea F Gardens owned by Tata.
What kind of social activity is done by this company at Munnar for benefits of thousands of man/woman employees is also to be seen.
You will relax at Munnar and good ideas will prop from your mind.
OK Buddy Pl go to Munnar with your family and enjoy natures beauty,
