They were supposed to have contracts in cauvery basin which was supposed to reduce their dependence on revenue from north-east region where revenues take a hit during monsoon season. Unfortunately this is not reflected in the current quarter and moreover due to sagging crude prices, all allied service contracts are getting re-negotiated and revenues will be impacted due to this. Hence wait for a better price to enter....

Alphageo is in a business with seasonality.Due to heavy rain and flood in the areas of their seismic survey sites they could not operate in sep qtr. It is no wonder and nothing to worry, company will compansate in next qtrs. In every year this happened in atleast one qtr.Don`t analyse this company in quarterly basis, take it as yearly.

Dear Manish

You are right, such a clarification was necessary from management side at least for the existing share holders.May they have some plans to purchase from open market in a panic after showing such a bad result without any notes....

Dear Valuepick,

I verified that out of last four years data FY05-08, their september quarter results were bad compared to other quarters as you right stated the reasons. However, this time the quarterly results were 0, so I was surprised. They should have at least put in the notes saying that there isn`t any business for Q2FY09 due to heavy rains/floods.

Thanks for clarifying.
