Hi radhika, chandigarh too is a place like other cities in india if you see economically but definitely,it being a planned city has advantages over other indian cities
its divided in sectors n it has apprx 50 sectors(when we were it had only 47)up to sector 37,you have to have sigle ownership house and later on there were changes in master plan n apartment act was introduced
This is a city of service class ppl and early residents were allotted huge plots by the then CM late pratap singh kairon to his close n influencial ppl
The rich have laded n agri, properties in PUNJAB&HARYANA but for educatio n better living they have come to chandigarh
The property in last 5 years has escalated to very high price n in fact no vacant plots atr available,it has an area of 121sq mts ie 11X11 km on both sides
On its north is a beautiful town ship of PANCHKULA N on SOTH IS MOHALI,1ST in HARYANA n 2nd in PUNJAB You can find better houses in PANCHKULA than chandigarh but other facilities are more in CHANDIGARH,being the capital n High COURT for two states
You find very very big parks n gardens in chandigarh n can find thousands of ppl having morning walk
With these qualities, its known as CITY BEAUTIFUL
We had a huge apartment in PANCHKULA but sold last year to swap for an apartment in MUMBAI
ITS not out of the way to tell you punjabis are not fools but FLEXIBLE But more than that the world is so small that ppl adopt culture of different parts of our country
bye n take care

Dear NO,
Good morning
Deletion of messages in this board is going to be the in thing. So in our own interest we should save a copy when we present researched articles. Moreover the usefulness of this MMB has also come to an end with the mgt showing scant regard for the views of the boarders. So it would be more worthwhile to have interactive groups (like yahoo.google) among like minded friends and share views. After all we do not interact with more than a dozen boarders on a continuous basis here too.
Good day!

PML(N) chief Nawaz Sharif, who was ousted in a 1999 coup by General Musharraf, today ruled out any safe passage for the outgoing President, saying that was “impossible.”
-IE
“I don’t want to sound vindictive even though he mistreated me and my family. I can ignore that but not the abrogation of the Constitution, incarceration of the judiciary. We cannot let him go scot-free. We have to set a good precedent to pre-empt such interventions,” Sharif told The Indian Express in an exclusive interview conducted during a road journey from Raiwind, his home outside Lahore, to Islamabad just hours before Musharraf appeared on TV to announce his resignation.
So how should Musharraf be treated? “He should be tried in a court of law.” Asked who did he think would be the next President, Sharif said: “Immediately after his (Musharraf’s) ouster, the chairman of the Senate will take over. In 30 days, we will elect a new person. It can also be a woman. We have agreed on a person of national consensus.”
Does Asif Ali Zardari of the PPP want to be President? “I don’t know, he could be.” How about you? “No question! I am not interested in being the headmaster of Pakistan’s political school. I aim at putting a parliamentary system into practice. I have a passion to undo all the harm done by dictators,” Sharif said.
Asked how they managed to force Musharraf to step down, Sharif said: “We drew plans to shake up his electoral college. That’s why we began by moving resolutions in the provincial assemblies. He is shattered now, totally. It is the triumph of democracy. I would be lying if I said I am not feeling relieved to see him go.”
Told that many still regard the PML(N) pact with PPP a marriage of convenience, he said: “Whatever you may say but we joined hands for democracy. In hindsight, had all parties boycotted the elections in February, we could have got rid of Musharraf long ago. But we failed to reach a consensus.”
Did the US give far too much importance to Musharraf? “America has traditionally supported dictators in the past. They preach democracy but support dictatorships. They now have to back a democratic system. They have been our old ally and we understand their concerns but we should see eye-to-eye first,” Sharif said.
What if the PPP still doesn’t restore the sacked judges (a key demand of the Sharif party)? “I hope that doesn’t happen. If it does, it will be very serious. I talk straight. Even India knows that.” Will the PML(N) settle for partial restoration of judges? “It has to done fully. Come my way, or take the highway.”
Asked how he viewed Indo-Pak relations at this juncture, especially in the wake of Pakistani troops firing at Indian positions along the Line of Control, Sharif said: “You say we are doing it, we say the converse. India should now address the core issue of Kashmir. You can’t keep it on the backburner and engage in CBMs. The current fiasco over Amaranth is a new event but an old idea which has been there since Pakistan came into being. Now, it is only rising. It won’t settle down unless the issue is seriously addressed. The protests are true feelings of the people. You must take serious note of it now otherwise it will keep bothering both countries.”

Dear N Owl
Your typing is horrible (typos, typing in CAPS, sloppy), to say the least, which can cause enormous confusion to the reader. For example :
Q
ut why would anyone do that to other peoples rated messages??
UQ
have you misspelled *ot* as *ut* ? or *but* as *ut*?
Its a pleasure to read some of your posts - content, flow and language, if you could only take a little more pain (effort), reading your posts would be heaven.

Rittu Aunty, were you aware of our bouncing ball model of the markets? Everyone quoted the conventional Newtonian projectile theory insisting that anything that goes up must come down getting everyone into jittery fits.
We were opining that the markets were like the anisotrpic elastic bouncing ball: that strikes the floor will bounce right back, but it can't do that mid way, wait the floor and ride the journey back up.
Googol Anna, as also Eshers, might recall those days.

Dear micky,
Prof.Murphy's corollary to Abe's law cited by you (and followed by all Indian politicians and most of the Indian corporate heads)is as follows:
"If you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time,it is enough"
Ho bale bale bale bale baleeeeeey!!
Cheers
PS:You earn the distinction of first Indian to insert inverted commas in to MMB message without setharam or seikooli! What is the secret of your success?...

O,what a tangled web we weave.
When first we practice to decieve !
J.R.Lowell.
Sometimes lying seems easier than telling the truth. But when you tell one lie,you almost always have to make up two or three more. Then you have to remember all of them,in the right order, plus the people you told them to.......and suddenly you are trapped.
Lies may be easy to tell but they are difficult to erase,
As Lincoln said"You can fool some of the people all of the time ,and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot all of the people all of the time.
When you see a person lying to take refuge in time of need, you are seeing the biggest Coward. These little little "white lies" can turn into a blinding blizzard.
Are you a truthful person,or is this something you need to work on??
