Bihar govt issues legal notice to RIL

Annoyed over Reliance Industries` (RIL) alleged lackadaisical attitude in fulfilling the terms and conditions under which it was awarded the contract for reviving a state-run sugar mill, the Bihar government has issued a notice to the Mukesh Ambani-led firm.
`SBI Caps, the agency entrusted by the state government, has sent the notice to RIL asking it to comply with the terms and conditions laid down for awarding the contract within 15 days, failing which, the contract will be cancelled for fresh tenders,` state minister for sugarcanes Gautam Singh told PTI here today.
Singh said RIL was awarded the contract to revive the sugar mill at Motipur in Muzaffarpur district last year and it deposited Rs 5.75 crore as security deposit for the tender.
RIL spokesperson could not be contacted for comments.
RIL was required to deposit half of around Rs 45 crore estimated for handing over the state-run mill to it for revival and expansion within three months of the winning the contract, the minister said.
`Mukesh Ambani`s firm has so far failed to deposit the money and therefore SBI Caps, following our instructions, has sent a legal notice asking the firm to comply with the agreement within 15 days, failing which, we will be constrained to cancel the contract and process for the tender afresh,` Singh said.
He, however, said the government would not be harsh in its approach and it would consider doing the needful once RIL`s reply to the notice was received.

Dear jashn24,
We can only find out the quality iof a stock and the market may take it`s own time to realise it. As far as I am concerned I am satisfied if the merits of a stock is good. If it is not rccogonised early you are fortunate that you can accumulate with ease.
The index had gone high but not the value stocks. Exploiting the nervousness of the retailers is going on. I see no hurry at all with the biggies. They will be slowly and steadily pruning and accumulating for the next 45 days.
As you said I too on the hunt for adding few stocks. IFL may give me more opportunity at these levels. I may go for a buy tomorrow.
Regards
nadhi ...

dear nadhi,
how precisely and succinctly summarised... :)
i had earlier burnt my hands on some nasty stocks, and ended up loosing a lot of good opprtunities and more, having got tied up in real duds :)- .thats made me realise the inherent benifits and advantages of building a majority of portfolio ( 2-4 stocks) with such kind of undervalued/ beaten down stocks, where the fundamentals are solid, technicals are true to pattern and more or less correlating well the past and present developments in the stock clearly and simply, and with inherent business strengths to bounce back from setbacks( could even be in the form of very good adequacy of capital/investments etc),good products/services lines, managment, OPMs,low debt levels, and more importantly, doesnt follow the volatile behaviours of sensex.( that way, a lot less worry and bother, i felt). Paramount fits that pattern well.
Mostly ,i feel such stocks may take their own time to give multibagger type returns, but safety and low downsides make them ideal for protecting one`s core holdings, i believe. These safe and steady ones perform far better in the long run due to their low betas.. this one fits the bill perfectly. March-may/june certainly was a good time to have taken advantage of such midcap and small cap gems.those who must have done so, really lucky. times seem to have changed a lot since then.
i did find sicagen to be in this category, and so i`d picked good quantity of it to make it my top holding, along with 2 others of this type. however, i have to agree that currently i dont know of any other stock like this with so much of safety (bec results wise, it has bounced back in an unexpected way) and steady upsides at this price level( most i know of have advanced and at least doubled).
Actually, in 2007, if i`m not mistaken, tarus starshare fund was a similar example. It concentrated 33% of its portfolio in one stock , believing in the inherent strenghts of the stock and sticking to it boldly( jaiprakash associates or prakash industries, i dont remember). But results were splendid, and the fund mgr won rave reviewsfor the unique approach, outperforming all the other funds by miles.
needless to say,i did pick up a few today :)- . I dont think it`ll fall much, but if it does, such type of stocks, every dip would be a buy opportunity i guess.
Regards,
jashn

There are many Industrial houses who have established themselves as leaders in the global arena like L.N.Mittal, TATA etc. by fair means and not by fraud and corruption like Reliance. And people held them in high esteem unlike Reliance. Its not a issue of switching to other counters, simple....

Dear iinvester there is a basic nature rule “survival of the fittest” we have to adapt enterprise qualities to give tough compilation to our rival companies globally, think to adapt and develop skills that will create wealth for you. if you are self capable then why you have to invest your money on someone else start your own company and create wealth for you and for your nation but its not fair to abuse anyone and any company. As you said RIL and mukesh is cheating every one if you feel that then why are you wasting your time here to abuse RIL and mukesh.. just shift to other counter simple.

And it has so happened that I have got cash for my fractional shares in EVERY case where I was involved. Examples: HDFC Bank, Reliance Capital (on conversion from Capital Ventures), Reliance Energy (BSES).
I am quite sure that you too will receive 7/16th value of one RIL share. Wait and see, please.
All the best....

As per a news item in the Business Line today, Reliance Industries Ltd. are offering to settle the matter of insider trading in RPL shares by agreeing to pay around Rs. 2 crores to those affected by this. SEBI has calculated the gains made by RIL and its group companies as Rs. 531 crores.
(I am invested in RIL through RPL shares and am also a shareholder of ADAG companies.)...

SEBI can de-list RIL in an EXTREME case. According to SEBI`s new floating rule the market cap is important. So the notice is tehre law will take its own natural course and investors in this stock will have to face the consequences.
Obviously some will not remain invested in this stock with this kind of information in this market. So don`t invest that will bring the marekt cap down and that will force RIL out of indices.
So there are investors and they have a choice.
So why are you abusing and writing irrelevant matters of far fetched imaginary actions? Write to SEBI. Write to CLB as Mukesh Ambani said in his speech at teh AGM. They are there to listen to you and take appropriate action. Maybe against you as well. Are you scared?

I was expecting a better performance from this company since 2 quarters; but the performance is deteriorating. So it is long term wait for this company. There are better stocks in this domain. Why to take a risk when there is no hope in this company as of now and we can very well reenter when there are signals of improvement....

Hi venkatagopal,
You got me wrong, didn`t lose my temper at all. I worry about the -ve publicity drawn towards a company which is unnecessary in the present difficult times. Many good companies are not making good money in the present fluid situation but that doesn`t make them a bad ones. Even i wrote many times that Tanla`s stock price would improve based on its upcoming numbers. Well, it`s a solid point about people`s hard earned money but you should be knowing they must take some calculated risk and have patience dealing with such stocks.
