Honestly, praneshg, I don`t get that kind of time. Nor do I have access to the things/data I would like to.

The IPO of this stock was priced a reasonable 600 in 3/2006. So, it got oversubscribed, opened at 749(?). It never looked back ever since. It hit its all time high of 2473/- 0n 16th Oct, 2007. The rise to the top wasn`t in a giffy. It was gradual. Due to persistent buying. After all, it was never an operator/promoter driven stock. Kashyaps do not indulge in that. They don`t have to. The scrip is strong as it is.

But it was then that the FM had a brilliant idea. The FM who is known to be such a snob. Who treated RBI, SBI, FI chairmen/MDs with disdain. Because he thought he is a borne banker, a Chettiar, not a career banker like them. So, he got RBI to increase CRR, Repo, Reverse Repo Rates in quick succession in a bid to bring down inflation. Without letting the effect of the one move to set in before initiating another. Cumulatively, the impact was desastrous. So much so that all the realty, infra stocks crumbled under the weight of unaffordable cost of funds.

The Capital Base has been allowed to be increased from Rs 160 Crore to 280 Crore. Thus, the Equity Base has been diluted from 80 Crore Shares to 140 at a Face Value of Rs 2/-. So, the equity stands diluted by (140-80)/80 = 75% discounting the F/V of Rs 2 as compared to the CMP of RS +38. If the approximation is to be counted in, the dilution works out to (60-3.16)/80 = 71%. As against the minimum 26% preferential allotment that the Board has been authorized by the CLB to, scope has been created up to an extent of 71%. So, in the first instance, +26% equity, or at least 51%-20% = 31%, will be handed out to the "Strategic Investor" and, when it comes to the Open Offer for 20%, by when the price of the scrip in all likelihood will come down to Rs 60/(1+71%) = Rs 35 or so, the Strategic Investor will simply buy out the remaining 20% at a rate of Rs 35 or a little over it. And, just in case the price goes up due to speculation or refusal of the knowledgeable investors to part with their holding, the Strategic Investor will simply be handed out the 20% chunk from the balance Equity Base of 71%-31% = 40% regardless of the outcome of auction! And, the Strategic Investor will of course be the one who is the highest bidder. Not to the company, though. To who else? Well, that is what is the whole story about. Brazen? Who cares. So, no wonder Satyam has already come down from the recent high of Rs 60 to Rs 38. No coincidence that the scrip has been taken off from the F&O segment before the announcement of the preferential thing. The games people play, in the name of law! Watch out, how exactly it unfolds. Even the banks that have been hired to come out with the cut-off price will oblige. Such a suspense thriller this! This happens only in India!! This is another matter, the scrip will regain the value it deserves: at an EPS of Rs 30 in spite of the Rajus and, an EPS of 30/(1.71) = 17.5 after dilution, for a P/E of 9 (+9 of TCS, Wipro, +12 of Infy and +25 of Educomp!), the price the scrip commands works out to Rs 157/-! If not Rs 157, half at a P/E of 4.5? That works out to a cool Rs 78/-. And, what if it gains substantially with no Raju to appropriate it? Or, what if an IBM wishes to go for it? Maybe well beyond Rs 78 or even 157 for that matter. So, just hold on. Don`t panic. If you think it is a gamble, so be it....
