Dear dejected and distressed shareholder of ABB,
Do not worry.. you are not alone.. atleast you have invested in a good company.
ABB will be going for a bonus this year... to free the cash to be used for expansion.
Regards,
Sourav
PS: I have burnt my hands in the India stock market... but that does not mean that I would become dejected... I have learnt to play with fire.. that is all I would want to say. Good Luck

Some heavy weights are talking about the history of ABB here. Then while digging up that history they have come across something called GEC or something or whatever. You may call me ignorant. We all know that times are bad, and companies like these which require heavy capital investments are short of cash due to the severe credit crisis. So in the light of these very dark circumstances, and the way people have started talking about its history, and how good or bad it WAS, i would like to know is ABB going to be history? I think it would be more beneficial if the research efforts are directed more towards its current economic position, its current strength, its economic health, its order books ( how they are looking ), and where do they stand....things like that......rather than what it was or where it came from. We have heard a lot about ABB, lets be clear that currently its in bad shape, well you might argue that everyone else is. But if you are a shareholder of ABB you would like to know about ABB and not about GEC. Things are tough, if i am right ABB doesn`t have any orders going forward in the next year. It has happened not because it has delivered bad products but because of this credit crisis. So its important to know how ABB is going to tackle it. Those are the points to be discussed and verified here. Not history.... There have been people like Sourav Kundu who has probably burnt his hands in this counter ( Though i wish that he has not ). Working in a software company , talking business startegies about power utilities, may be some can do it, but not all. I have taken Souravs name to generalise the current trend of people who seem to know all. I have got nothing personl against him.
Keep the shareholders of ABB well informed. Get real information about the present and the future and that too only about ABB. Forget the past.
Note : Persons who want to post stuff about ABB should be clear in their conscience that they are ethical people. Because if you think you can fool people into burning their hands..... it will be you at the end who will loose the game.
A dejected and distressed share holder of ABB.

I don`t know what kind of investor are you and what is your strategy and philosaphy while investing in stock market. I invested in this company in 1994 Rs 60000 , even in this distressed market my initial investment Rs 60000 is worth of Rs 8,25,000 after 14 years , I am happy. Still I am holding these shares and confident that Rs 8 lakhs will become Rs 30 lasks after 10 years. I know only one thing , still there is a lot of power shortage in India. Still thosands of villages are not having electricity. With out power no growth. That is the base for growth. Don`t look at today cash position and next year order . It won`t tell you any thing. Invest in businesses not in stock market. This statement looks easy , but practice is very tough. ...

Dear Sourav,
Thanks a lot for respecting all three of us as you know i am 57 year old but quite young at heart so that i can bear all shocks of ups and down of stock market.

I am talking of GEC of India Ltd., a company manufacturing fans etc. in the name of GEC. Its name was later on changed to GEC Alstom and then to ALstom India. I could recollect Mr AK Khosla was in charge of this company in 1990s. Thanks.
