Can you please tell me how safe Fixed deposits of Mahindra Finance and Jaypee Associates are? I could not find any CRISIL or CARE ratings for them?...
Limited time period of 12 months with no risk tolerance or capability and your investment vehicle chice makes it very hard to be specific. You are all over the map from the safest (FD) to riskiest (Commodities). So, I guess, it all depends. Before investing it will help to define yourself about yourself and then define your need and then only decide where to invest. Methinks you are going at this ass backwards....
Dear all,
we all have desires, desire to get rich quickly, desire to have the latest and best car, desire for the most beautiful house, desire to have our kids get the best education etc,all these goals are achievable provided you sensibly plan for them.
our PARENTS did it for us and they did so by hardwork and slow and steady not by LOANS,Avoid getting into DEBT TRAP in your desire to achieve your goals, once caught in the vicious cycle of loans it will take ages for you to get out of it with a lot of hurt and pain for near and dear ones
set your target`s monthly or yearly and go for them live within your means and live happily a rich person is not necessarily a happy person!!...
If viewed as an industry, fraud is pretty resilient. It does well when the economy is up and people have speculative cash combined with big, optimistic dreams. It also does well when the economy is low and people are trying desperately to recoup losses, regain retirement nest eggs and generally stay afloat. Fraud cuts investors deep at the best of times, but with the current economy pushing baby boomers to the edge of desperate measures to assure retirement, the damage is potentially on a larger scale. The key to avoiding the growing legion of scams out there is to temper your desperate hopes with a healthy dose of sober second thought and careful research.
A Little Knowledge Is a Dangerous Thing
It`s unfair to see victims of fraud as thoughtless people caught up by modern snake oil salesman. Many people who get caught by investment frauds are financially capable. At the very least, they have the habits that have allowed them to accumulate the wealth that makes them a target for people selling genuine investments as well as fraudulent ones.
In many cases, the people caught in frauds are sophisticated investors – Bernie Madoff among others have beguiled professionals right along with regular folks – and the failure is not a lack of knowledge but a lapse in due diligence. Afterwards, almost everyone hurt in a fraud realizes they should have known better, but they get caught up in the same way as investors in a bubble. (Identity thieves are using home equity lines of credit to commit their crimes. Find out more in Protect Yourself From HELOC Fraud.)
Count to Three
Hindsight is pretty useless when it comes to your portfolio, so there are three basic steps that can help you avoid getting caught up in an investment scam. They take time and, much like counting to ten when you`re angry, can help dampen some of the emotion that can cloud an investors head when phrases like ...

I`m reading many places about investing in Silver. But dont now how to?
Can anyone share their views about investing in Silver....
Why there is need for further advice when his son is willing to pay ULIP Installments?
Costructing/ Renting should be avoided. DONT try to Complicate the SITUATION.

Hello all,
I am very sorry for such late reply. In the meantime, I tried to talk to my uncle. He is keen on continuing with the ULIP as he has invested 1.5 lacks. His son would be paying for it.
Can you please help us figure out the best way to continue with ULIP?
He would continue to hold both the properties and we thought of constructing a new house on the new plot. There would be a big hall around 1000-1300 sqft hall on the ground floor which can be given on rent for functions or for coaching classes (there are 2-3 colleges around) and the first floor can be built as a home. This will generate some income which would at least support the maintenance of the property. He will either the old house after sometime (there is not much scope for appreciation as there is slum area nearby). His son will help him and can avail benefits like tax rebate and anyways the property would ultimately be his.
Please let me know your views on this? I appreciate you taking out time and helping us.
Thanking you once again
