Hi rvk41, Indian Promoters has 36.10% holding. As per your messages the board has approved raising of investment limit of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to 40%. What is your opinion about the effect after implementation of above limit....

Hindalco Industries, the flagship company of the Aditya Birla group, today announced that its board has approved raising of investment limit of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to 40%.

Further, its board has also approved raising of long term finance by way of qualified institutional placement (QIP) / global depository receipts (GDRs) and / or other securities with or without green shoe option up to Rs 29 billion instead of earlier approval of Rs 24 billion.

The approval of shareholders for the aforesaid decision is yet to be obtained.

Hindalco Industries has a 51% shareholding in Aditya Birla Minerals which has mining and exploration activities focused at the Nifty copper operation and the Mt Gordon copper operation in Australia.

Shareholders of the company have given their approval for garnering funds through the issue of securities that include equity shares, debentures and warrants, Hindalco Industries said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The fund raising plan also includes green shoe option, it said.

According to the company, the funds may be raised in one tranche or more.

Hindalco is going for QIP and Merchant Banker wants to jack up the price so that it can be offloaded at higher price. Else how come it paid Advance tax which was 60%lower than comparable quater.First dilutiion and then less advance tax. Just ride the momentum but be careful.....

ALCOA reported profit of 4 cents a share in the third quarter. Analysts were expecting a loss. Sales reached $ 4.62 billion, ahead of analysts` $ 4.55 billion forecast.

Alcoa reported net profit of $ 77 million in Q3. Analysts had expected the company to post loss. In Q3, the company benefited from rise in aluminum prices. Cost savings also helped the company`s numbers. Aluminum prices have gone up 16% to $ 1,890/t in last 3 months.

Alcoa said that global demand for aluminium was now on the increase. Aluminium consumption is expected to increase 11% in the second half of 2009. Due to low inventories at distributors and rising shipments, regional premiums are improving and global.CHECK IT OUT...
