Tata Tele to raise $ 250-mn to fund expansion plans
5 Nov 2009, 1954 hrs IST, PTI
MUMBAI: Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd, plans to raise $ 250-mn to fund its expansion plans, a top company official said.
"We have received approvals to raise $250-mn at any time. The company`s Board will have to take a call," Tata Tele`s Managing Director, Mukund Rajan, told PTI here today.
The company has already obtained shareholders` permission for raising $250-mn through FCCBs, which has not been exercised.
The positive market response to the company`s offerings in an extremely competitive and volatile market could require advancement of planned capital expenditure.
"Our capital expenditure for this year was in excess of Rs 1,000-crore, which was already spent. Thanks to the response to our GSM plan, we have advanced Q4 capex to Q3. Towards the end of Q3, we should be in a position to take a decision on further capital expenditure plan," Rajan said.
The company has applied for additional spectrum of GSM of 4.4 MHz to 6.2 MHz in Mumbai and Maharashtra, he said.
The company which adopted Tata DoCoMo`s per second tariff plan for its GSM services in Mumbai and Maharashtra believes the current pricing is profitable.

tata tele is doing all the right things for getting more and more subscribers however all this requires a lot of money which they dont have, yes thay have the tata name and assets but no liquid cash. the moey they recieved from the stake sale has been spen on the gsm launch. But still there is tower infra they subsidery 21st century infra is a loss making firm and lets face it their network suks.
tata tele is goin in for another wild move and rasing more capital already with such a heavy equity base + pilling on of debt in this poor company by the management it will take another 10 years to show net profits.
This q results the net loss was more than a 100 cr on turnover of 500.
even if you take the best case senireo for this company with all the compitation and per second billing it will not do more than 700 - 800 cr sale per quarter, & asume a margin of 23% that 184 cr in gross profit - the intrest and depp.
they already have 189 cr equity shares + they want to raise another 1000 cr assume at rs 26 a share that 38 cr shares additional taking the equity base to 2000 cr thats 200 cr shares more or less.
with 100 odd cr depp and 95 odd cr intrest which will only rise ( per quarter ).
This company will never be profitable.
the telcom sector trades at a pe of 12.
To be valued at rs 24 tata tele should show atlease 400 cr net profit each year. if one back calculates
TTML works on 20 - 22 % gp margins. it shows 600 - 800 cr in intrest cost and depp each year.
to make a np/ before tax of 400 cr their gp should be atlease 1000 cr. with 20% margins their turnover should atleast be 5000 cr. that double from today.
I doubt it will happen before 10 years. ...

PureAdviceThe stk. can move up sharply from here on short covering. It also offers medium & long term investors to entre at these levels. The beating of the stock is more based on market meltdown & surface reading of results. The value & power of Docomo brand is nowhere been realised/recognised. The game in wireless from now onwards is based on value added services, & Docomo is world leader. ...

Number 1 (one) in incremental wireless and wireline subscriber additions
- Sequential quarter-on-quarter revenue growth of 7%
- TTML revenues at an all time high of Rs1063 crore for the half year
- Highest ever incremental wireless market share of 25.3% for the half year and 33.7% for the second quarter, in the wake of extremely successful launch of Tata Docomo GSM services in August
- Wireline market share amongst private operators crosses 50%
- Half-yearly EBITDA of Rs279 crore with an EBITDA margin of 26%
- TTML`s network the only network to be rated congestion-free by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) 5 (five)consecutive times
- Company awarded the prestigious `IT Service Provider (Telecom / ISP) of the Year` award at the Maharashtra Information Technology Awards, 2009
Mumbai: Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) today announced its quarterly and half-yearly consolidated financial results for the period ended September 30, 2009.
Quarterly highlights:
TTML launched GSM services in the second quarter, and the consequent impact of GSM launch expenses and depreciation on GSM capital assets is accordingly seen in the results of the company; the second quarter results are therefore not strictly comparable with previous quarters.
- The extremely successful launch of Tata Docomo gave a significant boost to subscriber additions and revenues (with a corresponding increase in the expenses related to the launch and subscriber acquisition costs).
- The subscriber base at the end of the second quarter stood at 9.6 million – an increase of 57% over the corresponding quarter of the previous year. TTML`s Mumbai circle crossed 3.5 million wireless subscribers and the Rest of Maharashtra circle crossed 6 million wireless subscribers.
- TTML registered it`s highest ever incremental wireless market share of 33.7% in the second quarter.
- TTML`s incremental wireline market share was 62% in the second quarter, and its end of period wireline subscriber market share amongst the private players crossed the 50% mark.
- Revenues grew by 6% to Rs 550 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, compared to Rs518 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year, and by 7% as compared to Rs513 crore for the immediate preceding quarter.
- The company registered an EBITDA of Rs121 crore with an EBITDA margin of 22% for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 (inclusive of the impact of GSM launch expenses), compared to Rs161 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
- TTML is the only network across Mumbai and Maharashtra to be rated congestion free in five consecutive reports published by TRAI. At the beginning of the year, TTML had also been rated in independent studies commissioned by TRAI as the Number 1 wireless operator in terms of overall customer satisfaction in its geography.
Half-yearly highlights:
- TTML was Number 1 (one) in terms of incremental wireless and wireline subscriber additions for the half year ended September 30, 2009.
- In the month of October, the company has crossed the 10 million subscribers milestone, inclusive of over 600,000 wireline subscribers.
- The positive market response to the company`s offerings in an extremely competitive and volatile market could require advancement of planned capital expenditure.
- Revenues grew by 4% to Rs1,063 crore for the half year ended September 30, 2009, compared to Rs1,023 crore for the corresponding period of the previous year.
- The company registered an EBITDA of Rs279 crore with an EBITDA margin of 26% for the half year ended September 30, 2009 (inclusive of the impact of GSM launch expenses), compared to Rs316 crore for the corresponding period of the previous year.
- The company was awarded the prestigious `IT Service Provider (Telecom / ISP) of the Year` award at the Maharashtra Information Technology Awards, 2009.

Why TTML making losses.

Balu13The merger with TTSL will be a fiasco as the swap ratio will be such that you will continue to suffer. I think we have all been taken for a big ride. The Tata management have not been proactive enough to assuage the fears, pain and sufferings of the long term investors. ...

Now almost all operators have announced 1ps/sec pulse billing.Airtel, Vodafone, idea, Aircel, MTS(New operator). Reliance yet to announce the pulse 1ps/sec. Amoung all the offer, TATA DoCoMo has only a clean offer i.e you call anybody local/STD, mob or landline, you pay 1ps/sec.
Hopefully I think the subscriber would be able to differentiate and show the same faith which they have shown in Aug and September to make TATA Docomo the no:1 interms of subscriber additions.

I have been tracking this stock for the last 5 years and am holding it for the last 3 years now. I too did not exit when it reached 65/- 2 years back. Why did it reach 65/-?
1. Tie-up with Virgin -- Happened March 2008
2. Hiving off Passive infrastructure -- Happened September 2008
3. Possible merger with TTSL -- Awaited.
Over and above they have sold stake to Docomo and we are seeing the whole industry has been shaken after Tata Docomo launched GSM services. For the last 2 months, Tata`s have added more subscriber than any other player.
Now Airetl also has joined the 1p/sec when they said that it will not do so. Who has bought the best benefit to the customer in telecom? TATA`S...Always Customer Ahead.
When Docomo has trusted the company and invested 2.9 billion why we who have invested in thousands / lakhs be worried?
In the market the longer you are in holding good company the chances of making money brighten...If November they continue to add more than any other operator then the fun will begin...lets wait till then....
