National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has announced the following Unaudited results for the quarter ended June 30, 2009:
The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 1264.50 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009 as compared to Rs 5253.30 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. Total Income has decreased from Rs 15937.00 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 to Rs 10365.00 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2009....

I have received an alert from HDFC on friday that the stock has a target of 305/- within 2-3 trading days so i wud suggest u hold on to the stock to cut down ur losses...well the ultimate decision is solely urs

Highly negative. The matal space has been bad since Q2 Fy 08. Why did get into it at all after this. If you hold on for 2 years you may see better day POSSIBLY . Budget is anti market and that will drag all indices down

in LME prices, adjoining this, the cushion provided in
the form of INR depreciation is also vanishing post

with all time high inventory levels due to very sharp
contraction in consuming segment like housing and
transport across the globe....
LME Aluminium Inventory

LME inventory has touched an all time high level of 4.2
MT in over three-decade, nearly six weeks’
consumption. This is the reason, aluminium has
declined 7% YTD (CY), compare to 57% & 24% gain in
copper and zinc respectively....
LME Aluminium Price

Prices have fallen way below over two-decade average
of $1,720/tonne and currently ruling at $1,450/tonne.
However, looking at the stability in developed
countries and minor recovery in developing countries
would improve the prices....
Other Projects

Apart from these projects, the company has plans to set up an aluminium park in Angul, as a joint venture with
Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO). Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and
NALCO have entered into an agreement to collaborate for the production of aluminium rail wagons. Besides
this, EoI has been invited from competent parties to set up a cement plant based on fly ash of NALCO’s power
plant at Angul. In addition to all these, several projects are in the pipeline at various stages aimed at backward
integration to ensure smooth and economic sourcing of raw materials...
Projects Abroad

NALCO has signed an MoU with the Govt of Indonesia to set up a 0.5 MT smelter and a 1250 MW captive power
plant with an investment of Rs 140 bn in the greenfield project. In Iran, a 0.33 MT smelter has been planned in
two phases as a joint venture with project cost of approximately Rs 80 bn....
