De Merger Business

Guys,
Iam seeing a more companies coming with De Merger business..
I want to know some info on De Merger business. Lets say, a good company with good fundamentals in terms of business, revenues etc.. also, doing good movements in market. Is it advisable to buy those scripts. Defently answer is YES, if that script is behaving very well in the arket, but my dilemma is that, we will not be knowing the exact movement on the script after de merger for bpth existing script and also for the new script which will list from its Demerging business.
What you Guys feel about that.. Also, i think if both the scripts does a above average Job then we will be in double position right..? i.e) X quantity in one script will become 2X (Including both scripts).
Any views will be highly appreciated..
Samir, this is in additional to Adlabs and NDTV..
Thanks......

Warren Buffet says that:
“An investor should ordinarily hold a small piece of an outstanding business with the same tenacity that an owner would exhibit if he owned all of that business.”
"You are neither right nor wrong because the crowd disagrees with you. You are right because your data and reasoning are right."
He made all his fortune followed by this philosophy....
Hence, I am only recommending those selected small cap scripts which are very cheap and performing companies rather over a valued mid cap and big cap,
Do not enter if you are a trader, only those long term investors can gain from those scripts.
Keep in mind, Only invest do not trade, and sleep well and forget until 1 to 2 years , your capital might increase to 2 to 3 times.
Suggested : (Many bad gossip already spread over the market, forget about.)
Now it is your choice.

Yes...154 is a realistic level and a good level for entering, it could come anytime.
In present market, where all stocks seem overheated, ndtv still seems like a good buy, as it has hardly retraced much to its older levels.. i am also thinking of adding more if i get a good deal at anytime in the coming week.
best wishes,
samir....

News item: 23rd September,2009 source: livemint dot com
New Delhi: Global media and entertainment conglomerate NBC Universal Inc. is in talks with New Delhi Television Ltd, or NDTV, to increase its stake in NDTV Networks Plc, the holding company for the group’s entertainment and lifestyle businesses. Sameer Nair, chief executive of NDTV Imagine, the unit that houses the eponymous general entertainment channel and other entertainment businesses, said the US-based company could soon become a majority stakeholder in NDTV Networks by increasing its holding from the current 26%. “They (NBC) will be hiking their stake. That is work-in-progress. All the money will be reinvested in the business,” he added.
Useful money: NDTV Imagine chief executive Sameer Nair. NBC’s proposed stake increase in NDTV Networks comes at a time when the Indian entertainment company has spent heavily on new launches. Madhu Kapparath/Mint
Nair declined to share details of the negotiations since the deal is yet to be inked. “The discussion has been on for three-four months. I can’t give you the exact figures...but it will be a majority (stake).” NBC acquired 26% in NDTV Networks for $150 million (around Rs580 crore) in January 2008. At the time of signing the deal, NDTV Networks was valued at $577 million (Rs2,273 crore). The deal also gave NBC, in which General Electric Co. has an 80% stake, (French media group Vivendi SA holds the rest), the option to increase its stake to 50% in 2011 at a fair market price.
NDTV Networks is the holding company for NDTV Imagine and NDTV Lifestyle, online business NDTV Convergence, media technology services Ngen which is a joint venture between NDTV and back-office services company Genpact Ltd, and software and technology company NDTV Labs.
Even as it finalizes the transaction, NDTV is looking to launch NBC’s channels in India as part of an effort to expand its entertainment business. “Last year, we wanted to launch a set of NBC channels such as Sci-Fi, 13th Street and Universal Channel, among others. But carriage fees...and then the recession hit (us). But I guess we’ll do that (launch channels) next year,” said Nair. Carriage fees refers to the amount broadcasters need to pay cable firms to carry their channels.

Kindly note that 5th october is date when permission from high coart to allow demerger is expected....actual demerger will be after that... could be a week or several weeks after 5th october, although, i do think, that once permission from high coart is received, demerger news will get factored into stock price.
best wishes

Dear Guptaji,
I appreciate the fact that anyone looking to buy some shares would like to do the same at as low a price as possible.
Kindly note that, technically, if NDTV goes below 154-155, then it would technically NOT be a good buy in the first place.
It is imperative that NDTV maintains a price above 154-155, for its upwards trend to continue, as going below that, would make it a bad buy, again, this is only speaking from technical analysis point of view.
I am holding this stock, with a stop loss at rs.148.00 , so i sincerely hope for my own sake, it does not breach that level, but as long as ndtv can maintain minimum 155 or so, its a good buy, otherwise its not worth holdng, atleast for the short to medium term.
Hopefully, as per details i got from NDTV, they will get the high coart permission for demerger on 5th of October and record date of demerger will be set within October itself as NDTV is keen to go ahead with the demerger.
Having said all of the above, i hope you achieve your targets, but you achieving your targets means i go on a loss, so lets see what happens:-)
best wishes,
samir....
