An eye-popping 153 Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) hit Dalal Street in 2017 raising a whopping USD 11.6 billion. Will this robust trend continue through 2018?
2017 was a terrific year for the IPO market across the world. About 1600 IPOs raised USD 180 billion across the globe. This kind of activity was only last seen in 2007 before the financial crisis hit Wall Street.
In India, General Insurance Corporation (GIC) managed to raise just over USD 1.5 billion, the second largest IPO across the world in terms of proceeds. Not just that--- India has had 4 IPOs which have crossed the billion dollar mark.
