The Vijayakumar Mills Ltd., (VKM) was incorporated on 14th March, 1946
 and obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business during the
 year 1949 with the main objective of manufacturing cotton and
 polyester yarn of various counts. The preresent installed capacity of
 the plant is 43,580 spindles, 960 rotors and a processing house for
 processing cotton and polyester yarn to the extent of 5 tons yarn per
 day.  At present, the company manufactures cotton yarn, briefs and
 vests, sewing threads from cotton and polyester yarns.  The company
 now proposes to install 4 MW wind arm (comprising of 16 wind turbine
 generators) in the State of
 Tamilnadu catering to 49% of power requirement on the existing
 operations.
 
 The spinning division of the unit is located on 43.198 acres of land
 at Chinna Kalayamputhur Village, Palani Taluk, processing house and
 knitting division are located on 72.899 acres of land at
 Peddanaickenpatty, Palani Taluk.
