1982 - The Company was incorporated in March, at Bangalore. It was
jointly promoted by KSIIDC (Karnataka State Industrial
& Development Corporation) and ACCL (Asian Cables Corporation
Limited). It manufactures polythene insulated jelly filled
cables. It also exports its products.

5,00,300 shares taken up). The balance 9,24,718 shares,
with the unsubscribed portion of 5,10,477 shares out of the
preferential quota were offered to the public in September
(All were taken up).
1990 - The Company issued 1,20,000-14% secured redeemable
non-convertible debentures of Rs 100 each at par to SBI
Markets Ltd., on private placement basis. These debentures
to be redeemed with 5% premium on the expiry of 7th year from
date of allotment.
1991 - The Company issued 2nd series of 1,00,000-14% secured,
non-convertible debentures of Rs 100 each at par to ANZ
Bank on private placement basis. These debentures are
with 5% premium on the expiry of 7 years.
1992 - The name of the company was changed from Karnataka Telecables
Ltd. to RPG Telecom Ltd. on 21st September. The name of the
Company further changed from RPG Telecom Ltd. to RPG Cables
on 12th January, 1998.
1993 - The Company entered into a technology tie-up with the world
renowned manufacturers of power and telecom cables, at

- The Company promoted Sprint RPG India Ltd., RPG Paging
Ltd., RPG Cellular Services Ltd. and RPG Satellite
Ltd. to pursue E-Mail, Paging, Cellular and VSAT businesses.

1996 - With effect from April 1st, Asian Cables & Industries Ltd.
Upcon Cables Ltd. were merged with the Company. The merger
effected on November 10th, 1997.
1997 - 77,49,045 No. of equity shares and 1,000,000 pref. shares
as fully paid up share pursuant to a Scheme of Amalgamation.
- RPG Satcom, the firm has received a letter of intent from
Viyella to install 12 Vsats initially.
- Asian Cables has a joint venture with the UK-based BICC
RPG-BICC Power Cables, the second largest power cable
manufacturer in the world, to make high-voltage cables.
1998 - The company, which last year changed its name from RPG Telecom
RPG Cables, also proposes to approach financial and lending
institutions for issue of preference shares.
