Our Company was originally incorporated in New Delhi on March 15, 1965
under the Companies Act
as a private limited company under the name ‘Engineers India Private
Limited’ pursuant to a formation
agreement dated November 20, 1964 and in accordance with a memorandum
of agreement dated June
27, 1964, both between the Government of India and BIC. Thereafter,
the memorandum of agreement,
the formation agreement and a subsequent technical services agreement
entered into by our Company
and Bechtel Overseas Corporation BOC were terminated by mutual
consent in accordance with an
agreement between the Government of India, BIC and BOC in May 1967.
In accordance with the terms
of this agreement our Company also entered into separate agreements
for mutual release in June 1967
with BOC and BIC whereby the parties mutually agreed to forever
discharge and release the other party
and its officers, employees from all liabilities, obligations and
duties under the terminated agreements.
Further, pursuant to a special resolution passed by the shareholders
of our Company at an EGM held on
October 30, 1996 our Company was converted to a public limited
company.

research and development centre at Gurgaon.
1994 Our Subsidiary,
Certification Engineers International Limited was set up.
1996 The Government of India
disinvested about 6% of its holding in our Company through a private
placement to certain
banks, mutual funds etc.
1997 Listing on the BSE and NSE.
Mini Ratna status
accorded to our Company.
1998 Commenced execution of lump
sum turn key projects.
2000 Listing on the Delhi Stock
Exchange.
2001 Commenced work in the
infrastructure sector.
2002 Our Company was awarded the
MOU Award by the Government of India Ministry of Heavy
Industries and
Enterprises, Department of Public Enterprises (Merit Certificate in
the Achievement
of MOU Targets for the
Year 1999-2000)
2003 Our Company was awarded the
MOU Award by the Government of India Ministry of Heavy
Industries and
Enterprises, Department of Public Enterprises (Merit Certificate in
the Achievement
of MOU Targets for the
Year 2001 - 2002)
2004 Commenced providing
engineering engineering procurement construction management services
in
relation to sub-surface
crude storages.
2006 Delisting of our equity shares
from the Delhi Stock Exchange.
2007 Contracts on open book estimate
and lump sum turnkey basis.
2008 Strike by Engineers India
Officers’ Association and others. Our Company filed a civil suit in
2008
in relation to this strike.

Our Company was awarded a

2000
- The President of India has a holding of 90.39 per cent of the
total
capital of the company.
2001
- Mr. Keshav Saran has been appointed as the new Chairman and
Managing
Director of the State-owned Engineers India Ltd.
- The Company will set up separate strategic business units with the
aim of diversifying into areas with high business potential.
2002
-Engineers India Ltd has informed BSE that Shri M K Dalal has taken
over the full charge of Chairman & Managing Director of the company
wef September 26, 2002.
-The Government had invited Expression of Interest for bidding its
51% stake in
Engineers India Ltd.
2003
-Engineers India Ltd informed BSE that Shri S Ramana Murthy, company
secretary of the company has retired and Shri Sumanta Nayak, earlier
Deputy Company Secretary has been
designated as the Company Secretary.
-Mr Pranob Mukherji has been appointed as the Director (project) of
EIL.
-EIL posted 52% increase in its turnover compared to last years
Rs.537crs.
-EIL has earned a services contract Front End Engineering
Design(FEED) from an
arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, Abu Dhabi Takreer.
-Bags a turnkey order worth more than Rs 286 crore from top
exploration firm Oil and Natural Gas Corporation
2004
-Consultancy firm Engineers India Ltd (EIL) said it has bagged Rs
1,600 crore contract for advising Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd on
implementation of clean fuel project at its Visakhapatnam refinery
-Engineers India Ltd, as part of a diversification strategy, will
partner Bharti Enterprises and Changi Airport of Singapore in bidding
for development of Delhi and Mumbai airports
2005
-EIL gets contract from Nalco
-EIL in negotiation to buy Lurgi unit
-EIL, Petronet to jointly bids for gas ventures
2006
-EIL ranked at 142 in the list of ET 500 companies (published in
February 2006) up from 311 an year ago based on an average of eight
separate factors
-CDC National Award for Excellence in Consultancy Services 2005 for
execution of Capacity Expansion-cum-Modernization Project Phase-I of
KRL.
-NRDC award for innovation and commercialization of CFC Technology of
EIL-R&D and IOC-R&D
-Merit Certificate for Excellence in the achievement of MoU Target
for the year 2003-2004 by Hon'ble Vice President of India
2007
-Engineers India Ltd has appointed Shri. Avinash Chandra as
non-official part-time Director on the Board of the Company vide its
letter dated June 19, 2007, issued by the Ministry of Petroleum &
Natural Gas.
-EIL received a shield and a certificate from Abu Dhabi Company for
Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) on for successfully completing 5
Million man-hours without Loss Time incident at their Tank Farm
Upgrade Facilities Project, Jebel Dhanna
-Hindalco awarded a “Certificate of Recognition” to EIL for achieving
a landmark of 1.16 million accident-free man-hours at Muri Alumina
Brownfield Expansion Project
2008
-Amity Award for Best Engineering Consultancy Services.
-PetroFed award for ‘Best Women Executive of the Year’ to Ms Vartika,

-PRSI Award-2009 for Engineers India
2010
-EIL signs MoU with Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas
-Payment of Special Interim Dividend - 2009-2010 @ Rs. 100/- (Rupees
one hundred only) per share of the Company (on the face value of Rs.
10/- each) out of the Free Reserves of the Company.
-Engineers India has given the Bonus in the Ratio of 2:1
-Company has splits its Face value of Shares from Rs 10 to Rs 5
2011
-Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) National Award-2010 for Aap
Aur Hum-1st prize and Hamara EIL-2nd prize (in Hindi category).
-Appreciation certificate by CPCL for achieving 4 million LTA free
man-hours for Euro-IV Project at Chennai.
-Certificate of Recognition from MRPL for achieving 30 million safe
man-hours without lost time accident for Phase-III Refinery Expansion
Project of MRPL.
2012
-First prize by the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India
(ICWAI) for excellence in Cost Management Practices for the year 2010
in the category of “Public - Service Sector - Large”.
-Sarvashreshtha Suraksha Puraskar (Golden Shield) from National
Safety Council of India for executing LLDPE/HDPE (Swing Unit) of
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) Naphtha Cracker Project at Panipat
Haryana
-Safety Certificate by IOCL for achieving 80 million man-hours
without any Lost Time Accidents (since 15.11.2008) during the course
of construction of Panipat Naphtha Cracker Project (PNCP).
-Safety Certificate from ONGC Petro-additions Ltd.(OPaL) for
achieving 8.5 million man-hours without any lost time accident for
Dahej Petrochemical Project.
-Engineers - EIL bags Intgrated Refinery Expansion Project of BPCL,
Kochi.
