
"Tax rates have come down, which is a good thing. But in a populous country like India, it is still too much.
"Compared to other countries, I feel it (tax rates) should come down even further," says Sonu.
The excise duty cuts on small cars and two wheelers announced in the budget he feels is a good thing because this will fulfill the dreams of most Indians to possess their own vehicles.
About the increase in duty on non-filter cigarettes he says, "People who have been smoking 20 cigarettes a day may cut down to 10 a day. But it wouldn't bring about a big a change. Because, in the end it is an individual choice."
Sonu believes the new tax slab for women is a welcome change.
Cell phones will now be more expensive. Does this worry him? "It is not something I buy on a daily basis! I change my phone once in six to eight months. And it is an investment, so it wouldn't affect me much.
Gym equipment duties have also been reduced. "Let's hope for a slash in the gym membership rates," he quips.
