Ajay Lakhotia started his career with the core business of Packaging- setting up new production units, encompassing advanced technology, while developing backward integration strategy.
He further developed M&A strategy to acquire smaller firms strategizing inorganic growth plan in niche sectors, identifying cost synergy.
As of today Lakhotia Group has diversified business in Packaging, Consulting, Chemicals & Electricals & Agro Foods.
The upcoming projects are Bottling Plant and FMCG production line in tie up with MNC clients on which Ajay has been working diligently since last few months.
Abhishek is a 2nd generation entrepreneur, having 4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical manufacturing space. His company Marvel Drugs Pvt. Ltd (MDPL) is concentrated in CRAMS (Contract Research and Manufacturing Services) of pharmaceutical APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) and intermediates, and headquartered in Mumbai, India, with its manufacturing units in Panvel. Their clients are essentially MNCs spread across geographies in Europe, the Americas and Africa. MDPL’s core competency is in providing an end to end solution for the research and development and commercial manufacturing of niche generic molecules, requiring advanced chemistry and complex synthesis. MDPL’s offering of market exclusivity for certain molecules for select clients, has consistently resulted in a strategic long term value proposition for its clients.
Abhishek began his career as a management trainee within his family business, right after completing his B.S in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta. From there, he moved into Quality Assurance (QA), where he led multiple projects over the next few quarters to upgrade the company’s infrastructure, people and processes. During his 3 years as the Head of QA, he spearheaded the company’s first GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification, ISO 9001 certification and complete process re-integration across multiple facilities, while achieving his Black belt in Six Sigma methodologies in the process. Abhishek also headed the Business Development, Marketing, Supply Chain and Client Relationships functions of the company, where he led multiple initiatives that have had a significant impact on the top line and bottom line of the company.
Having just completed his MBA in strategy and finance from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Abhishek’s primary focus today is in developing and executing a 5-year strategy for MDPL to take it to the next level of growth and scale – tackling diverse issues ranging from efficiency improvements, to M & A opportunities, to succession planning. In addition to the above, Abhishek is actively involved in his other family business, Raman & Weil Pvt. Ltd, which specializes in marketing disinfectants, anesthetics and injectables to health care units across the Indian sub-continent.
